MOVING MEDITATION

A few years ago, and uncle invited me to join him in at a New York Woodworkers meeting and learn how to make a pen. That sounded fancy and complicated: I was totally in. After blowing up a blank or two, and learning to not have such a heavy hand, I quickly realized working on a lathe was one of the most rewarding activities I'd done in recent years. The slow movement, steady concentration and artistic freedom were all components I cherished and came to thrive on. Below are examples of my in progress and finished works, as well as other crafting projects I've prided myself in.

Rolling Pin

Made with removable handles on a center, free-spinning axel made from Maple and Black Walnut. Carrying case is PVC pipes with padded inner handle cradles and removable shoulder strap
